ManMind@School
Our experience at school, college and university must and should demand many things of us. To turn up regularly, to develop a wide range of skills, to deal with others respectfully and with confidence, to use the opportunity to launch ourselves into a fulfilling life. Above all, it demands of us to think critically and with a wide a perspective as possible.
Working out how to be a man and what kind of man we should be isn’t quite as easy as it sounds. Our experience as adolescents and young men is that there are often many voices telling us what we should become and how we should behave. Not all of it is healthy, not all of it is clear.
It’s also remarkable how often the loudest are the least qualified with the most counter-productive messages. Of course, it’s easiest to go with the in-crowd.
Finding The Right Path
Finding your way in the world comes with the discovering a sense of identity along side the skills that prepare us for the world after schooling. We all expect our education system to produce young men that are able to contribute to society to be constructive individuals and make the best of themselves in what ever they choose to do in life.
Schooling and home have the biggest impact on Mother Ancient Recipe, so it’s important to get the ingredients right.
Typically, we run two-hour workshops run after school and targeted at 16-18 year olds. We cover topics which include Positive Masculinity (as distinct from toxic masculinity), myth busting the tough subjects and the taboos, understanding the male mind and body, building healthy relationships, dealing with setbacks.
